Great, objective, and rational breakdown of the bill. Probably because you're the only person in America (other than Chinese espionage spies) who actually read it. Thanks!

Very insightful. Also, as an ideological classic liberal, but also a "nice human," I appreciate seeing a path that might help us come together and actually prevent what you referred to (aptly) as the "actually suicidal impulse on the American left." Thanks, again, Mike!

The state must defend its citizens and their property and businesses, and it boggles my mind that US doesn’t have a loud and clear policy on retaliation for cyber crime, especially state-sponsored. Our lack of border security is another unacceptable failure of a basic state function.

The state must also cut, and cut, and cut red tape. Permits, licenses, all of it. Remove barriers to entry, and China has no hope of keeping up. Free people and free markets will beat out central planners every day of the week.

That is where the role of the state must end. The minute you take capital out of owners hands for bureaucrats to dole out, you can only lose. Hence the “say no to everything” instinct of the GOP / conservatives. That instinct is 100% correct.
