Wonderful piece! Breaks my heart that people get pulled into this mercenary outlook. A friend of my wife’s who struggles with addiction tried creating an onlyfans so she could pay for her habit. Real low point in her life and it was right there. I think she made about $60/mos and her ex husband used it as grounds to take away her remaining visitation rights. Sure there are stories in the reverse where men get consumed by cam sites. Not a fan of big machines that eat human dignity to produce profit. It’s like we make little demons to sit on people’s shoulders to whisper in their ears.

Besides having nothing to do with the story, the above statement is 100% demonstrably false. Millions of American jobs are going unfilled due to labor shortages.
Such a silly statement causes the reader to question the writer’s accuracy and judgment in other areas of the story.
If you think that all rights are made up and subject to the whims of government then perhaps America isn’t the best place for you. Below is the bedrock founding principle of the US as laid out in the Declaration of Independence.
‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights…’
It is up to the courts to determine which rights are inalienable, but your statement that all rights are subject to the whims of democracy is highly troubling.
Unless a country acknowledges the existence of inalienable rights the eventual outcome will be a dictatorship.
