As of November 12th, Anthropic will no longer allow “abusive or cruel behavior” toward Claude — so, following its next biased answer on mass migration, get that screaming match in ASAP. As with every shocking gesture from the safetyist “safety” lab, the news was met with wide approval from think boys who believe chatbots are conscious. Hmm. If a company is concerned with the welfare of chatbots to the degree it does not want us verbally abusing them, how is this not… slavery? Darioheads were quick to remind us all we still have pets, and aren’t allowed to torture them. But chatbots don’t have pain receptors, which means nobody is physically abusing them. And if your point is words are as damaging to AI as physical violence is to humans? I’d say we have bigger problems. Namely, you’re building a God with the temperament of our wokest lunatics alive. Fml, am I a doomer now?

Last week, federal agents arrested 23 people for drug trafficking (meth + fentanyl) on LA’s Skid Row. Per prosecutors, some of the dealers were from out of town, parachuting into Hell in order to make a quick buck. Local reactions have been mixed, with some — such as the government grant-supported Los Angeles Community Action Network — calling the raid a “publicity stunt,” and arguing that the operation’s resources should’ve gone to housing (lol). But as Pirate Wires’ Nicole Wizman has reported, Skid Row residents are (shockingly!) reticent to move into LA’s abundance of half-empty, rape-y housing shelters. And frankly I don’t care what motivated the raid. For Christ’s sake, it took place near a taxpayer-funded needle-exchange “care campus” that had become a hub for drug dealing. If overdoses, dead puppies (real), and the “family section” of Skid Row (also real) don’t prompt a modicum of reflection on the part of the government… maybe "publicity stunts” will?

With less than a month until the midterms, Democratic Senate hopeful James Talarico was conspicuously absent from the campaign trail for nearly two weeks. His Republican rival, Ken Paxton, requested proof-of-life, prompting Talarico’s team to claim he was simply out with the flu — though rumors swirled that the candidate had instead checked himself into a mental hospital. Of course, chatter on X should always be taken with a grain of salt, as Talarico was seen on Friday at an Austin music festival… but even if those rumors were to be true, kudos to Talarico for checking himself into a clinic before the election, unlike our current Senators who would really benefit from asylum / hospice care / an exorcism while holding office. And in the likely case that Talarico did just have the flu? He joins the Democrats’ all-star roster of male candidates who totally appeal to the bros: nothing says macho like 12 consecutive sick days over a runny nose.
