Gwendolyn Westbrook, former CEO of the SF homeless nonprofit United Council of Human Services, was charged Monday with nine felonies after misappropriating $1.2 million of her organization’s funds for personal use. Former employees sounded the alarm upon realizing Sista Gwen the Sly was “living a lifestyle inconsistent with her reported salary,” including purchasing multiple luxury vehicles and driving around with “a trunk full of high-priced jewelry” (want to know where all your tax dollars are going, SF residents? Check the local nonprofit CEO’s trunk). Meanwhile, after a 2022 audit of her little “human services council,” Sista Gwen admitted to giving “coveted shelter space” to family members, and folks, here’s where I have good news: if we want to finally crack the code for housing SF’s homeless population, it appears all we need to do is put their aunties in charge of nonprofits. Just look the other way when those aunties start wearing diamond bracelets.

Summer Yue, a Meta researcher working on AI Safety and Alignment, went viral on X after her AI agent deleted some of her emails without permission. She was using Clawdbot, aka OpenClaw, an open-source AI agent that acts as your personal assistant and can access your files, bank accounts, email, etc. Legacy media ran with the story, and Fast Company published a “This Should Terrify You” headline. And yeah it should terrify you… if you are retarded. My advice to Yue, who is, again, a “professional AI safety researcher”: please learn the /stop command. (Isn’t step one of safetyism using the Big Red Off Button?) And my advice to journalists who saw one tweet and concluded that AI has turned evil: sometimes the human is at fault. I’ve just downloaded it… aaaaand my life’s savings have been converted into fartcoin. Okay, maybe a few kinks do need to be worked out.

…for Bernie Sanders to actually give a flying fiddle about poor people. On Monday, the senator called for a “moratorium” on data centers. His reasoning: we can’t allow “a handful of billionaire Big Tech oligarchs” to use AI to reshape humanity/destroy jobs without “serious public debate.” Sigh. If Sanders were serious about the bottom 50%, he wouldn’t try to kneecap one of the few sectors still investing billions in real-world infrastructure. He’d build data centers in places that need them. Places like McDowell County, WV, and Flint, MI, where people still drink brown water and could really use the infrastructure-upgrading tax revenue (plus jobs). Or (I hear lawmakers used to do this?) he’d make a law that regulates AI intelligently. A moratorium, much like a wealth tax, only helps poor people in some future, theoretical plane. On this plane, today, it's just another tweet in the “strategically making people hate each other” parade.
