Last month, prolific stock trader and former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi announced her retirement. Copy traders everywhere are on suicide watch.
Without the usual coronation ceremony in California’s 11th Congressional District, a tight race is emerging between two frontrunners. Vying for Pelosi’s soon-to-be vacant throne: State Senator Scott Wiener, and Saikat Chakrabarti, a former software engineer with fingerprints all over the new socialist left. Leftist NIMBY city supervisor Connie Chan has also jumped in, and while it’s hard to imagine someone who won’t even make her X account public winning the race, she’s already received a couple strong endorsements, and the large Asian-American population of San Francisco is likely to be a notable boon for her campaign.
Wiener represents a more run-of-the-mill left-wing degeneracy that is right at home in San Francisco. He’s built a reputation of improving the golden state through authoring legislation to house biological males in women’s prisons and reclassifying intentional spread of HIV/AIDS from a felony to a misdemeanor. And of course, Saikat’s campaign is attempting to outflank him from even further left. Saikat is also the candidate with most of the energy behind his campaign. If recent trends in cities across the country are any indication (local chapters of the DSA have absolutely bodied the machine Democrats and cannibalized their party), Saikat has a very strong chance of becoming your next congressman.
