The US is 250 years old. When it was young, anything was possible. Settlers built cities from nothing, laid railroads, and created the richest nation the world has ever seen.

But it came at a cost: a ravaged environment, the slave trade, and the annihilation of native civilizations. So the pendulum swung — and Americans began to fear progress instead of embrace it.
