This summer, at a private event at the historic Morgan Estate, Sarah Rogers, Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy, announced the Trump administration’s latest effort to fight censorship in America and abroad.

Through the “Freedom Tech Excellence Program,” technology companies and think tanks will lend employees to the State Department for up to a year, where they detect unlawful surveillance, strengthen protections for child safety online, bulk up encryption technology, and ferret out internal attempts at censorship by government bureaucrats.

You can think of it like DOGE for free speech.

“To quote Thomas Carlyle, the history of the world is but the biography of great men,” Rogers began. “My boss, Donald Trump, is one such great man. Tonight, we are fortunate to be joined by another.”

Rogers stood at the front of a wood-paneled room complete with oil paintings and a gilded fireplace. She’d brought 47 diplomats and insiders from 30 countries to the massive Tudor revivalist mansion in Los Altos Hills, where, on July 23rd, they discussed how to reverse Biden-era censorship and set poasters worldwide free to shitpost in peace.
